Dr. James L. Hill to Receive Friend of Education Award

Dr. James L. Hill, senior vice president and special assistant at The University of Texas at Austin, has been selected by the Austin Independent School District’s African American Heritage Program Committee to receive its “Friend of Education Award.”

Dr. James L. Hill, senior vice president and special assistant at The University of Texas at Austin, has been selected by the Austin Independent School District’s African American Heritage Program Committee to receive its “Friend of Education Award.”

The award is presented to an individual who has exemplified strong character, excellent leadership and outstanding service in the field of education. The committee praised Hill’s academic accomplishments, including his work through the years with the University Outreach Program, Neighborhood Longhorns Program, Texas Longhorn Partners Responding to Education Priorities, and the recruitment and retention of minority students, faculty and staff.

The ceremony for presentation of the award will be at 3 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the Dr. Exalton and Wilhelmina Delco Activity Center, 2601 Pecan Brook Drive.
