Tower shines orange tonight

The Tower at The University of Texas at Austin will be lighted orange with the number "100" Thursday evening in honor of the centennial of the university's Graduate School.

The Graduate School was officially established in 1910 by the Board of Regents.

The Graduate School awards more than 3,000 master's and nearly 800 doctoral degrees annually, making it one of the largest in the United States. There are more than 100 graduate programs in 14 colleges and schools across campus.

In celebration of the 2010 centennial anniversary, a hardcover book commemorating the anniversary has been published by Tower Books of the University of Texas Press. "Changing the World: Stories Celebrating 100 Years of Graduate Education at The University of Texas at Austin" is available at the University Co-op. All proceeds go to support graduate students at the university.
