Stephanie Eisner is one of 10 top entering freshmen from across the state selected to receive the prestigious Forty Acres Scholarship, a new program from the Texas Exes Scholarship Foundation.
Stephanie graduated from The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas in June. She was accepted to The University of Texas at Austin for fall. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction and was ranked ninth in her class of 916 students.
Stephanie has held multiple leadership positions throughout high school. As president of the National Science Honor Society, she initiated a project to raise money to purchase and donate the nutritional supplement ‘PlumpyNut’ to those suffering from malnutrition. By making and then selling tie-dye T-shirts to fellow students and teachers, she led the society to send about 8,000 supplement packets through UNICEF.
Stephanie was also president of the National English Honor Society, where she tutored a struggling elementary school student reader and held trivia nights at a home for the elderly. She was selected to be vice president of the service organization Anchor Club and was chosen to represent her class in her principal’s Leadership Council, where she participated in discussions about changes to school policies and community events.
In addition to her volunteer work through school organizations, Stephanie spent more than 350 hours as a junior volunteer helping to feed and care for premature infants in the Memorial Hermann Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She devoted her time to several organizations related to children and adults with disabilities, including CAMP Children’s Association for Maximum Potential, Sire, a therapeutic horseback riding center, and the Silverado Home for adults with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
During her summers, she interned in two doctor’s offices, shadowing a pediatrician and chief of staff cardiologist. Aside from her devotion to service, Stephanie is an accomplished artist. Recently, she won Grand Champion in the Fine Arts division of the Montgomery County Fair, was awarded the Houston Rodeo Art Gold Medal and displayed her sculptures and paintings at the Western Art Museum of Kerrville and the Pearl Fincher Art Museum.
Stephanie was selected as a Gold Medal Winner in the National Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards of Houston, earning particular distinction in the Community Service category. She was chosen to advance to the State competition of the Daughters of the American Revolution ‘Good Citizen’ awards, was highlighted as a 2011 Comcast Leader and Achiever and has participated and placed at the regional level in University Interscholastic League academic Ready Writing. She was also an avid participant in school sports, ultimately representing her high school on the varsity field hockey team.
