Forum to Focus on Drought and Other Extreme Weather Events

The University of Texas at Austin is hosting its third annual drought symposium “Water Forum III: Droughts and Other Extreme Weather Events” on Oct. 14-15. With Texas reservoirs at 60 percent capacity because of a drought now in its third year, the issue continues to be critically important for the state.

The University of Texas at Austin is hosting its third annual drought symposium “Water Forum III: Droughts and Other Extreme Weather Events” on Oct. 14-15. With Texas reservoirs at 60 percent capacity because of a drought now in its third year, the issue continues to be critically important for the state. 

WHEN: Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: Monday: Ballroom North (2.410), Student Activity Center; Tuesday: Legislative Assembly Room (2.302), Student Activity Center

BACKGROUND: The event, hosted by the university’s Center for Integrated Earth System Science, focuses on the latest research and provides a forum for discussion of trends, problems and future directions. Themes include impacts and mitigation, observations and monitoring, modeling and prediction, decision support systems, and causes and mechanisms.
