Magazine lists UT Austin among best schools for Hispanics

SuperOnda,a national monthly magazine published by Hispanic Business, Inc. in California, has ranked The University of Texas at Austin among the best colleges and universities for Hispanics.

AUSTIN, Texas—SuperOnda,a national monthly magazine published by Hispanic Business, Inc. in California, has ranked The University of Texas at Austin among the best colleges and universities for Hispanics.

UT Austin was ranked third best in the country in an article published in the magazine’s January/February 2000 edition. SuperOndais a publication of Hispanic Business Inc. of Santa Barbara, Calif. The article notes that the magazine’s main objective was to provide its readers an idea of “what schools are particularly good for Hispanics.” All colleges and universities included in the survey are Hispanic-serving institutions that also are members or associate members of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU).

The article includes a description of the UT Austin campus with information provided by the University. It notes that UT Austin has numerous programs supporting ethnic diversity on campus and President Larry R. Faulkner has a “sacred obligation” to promote participation by students from all ethnic populations of Texas and to serve them effectively. It says more than 30 organizations support a diverse population of Hispanic students in a full range of disciplines and interests.
