Mooov-In, a tradition of greeting and helping new and returning students moving into their residence halls at The University of Texas at Austin, will be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 21, and Saturday, Aug. 22, and from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 23, the weekend before the start of fall semester classes on Aug. 26.

Bobby Jenkins, president of the University Residence Hall Association, said about 450 members of the university community, including students, faculty and staff, have volunteered to help with the project, which involves working in shifts helping new students and their parents carry suitcases, boxes and other belongings from vehicles and moving the items into residence halls. He said about 7,400 residents will be in campus housing during the fall semester and that about 60 percent of the beds will be for freshman students.

The Mooov-In tradition, which began in 1993, is sponsored by the Office of the President, the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Division of Housing and Food Service, and the University Residence Hall Association.

Mooov-In locations this year will be Jester Center, Kinsolving Dormitory/Whitis/Court/Duren Hall, Simkins Hall, San Jacinto Hall, Brackenridge/Roberts/Prather/Moore-Hill dormitories and Andrews/Blanton/Carothers/Littlefield residence halls.

Note to editors/producers: William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, will greet arriving parents and students at the following locations on Friday: Duren Hall at 10:30 a.m., and Jester Hall West at 2:30 p.m.
