Josh Luchs, a former National Football League (NFL) agent who was recently featured in Sports Illustrated and on “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” regarding his admission of paying college football stars for nearly 20 years, will speak at The University of Texas School of Law’s Texas Review of Entertainment and Sports Law second annual symposium on Thursday, March 24.
Luchs will discuss his experience paying players in the hope of signing them as clients and violating NCAA ethics rules with several professors and agents, including Bob Boland, a professor at New York University and well-known sports agent. He has negotiated more than 100 player and endorsement deals in a variety of sports, including the NFL.
Luchs will be available for interviews on March 24.
Luchs and Boland will participate in a symposium titled “The Role of Agents in Entertainment and Sports,” which will be held in the Law School’s Eidman Courtroom from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The event is free and open to students, attorneys and the public.
Speakers include: Lawrence Waks, entertainment attorney from Jackson Walker LLP; Bill Stapleton, founder of Capital Sports and Entertainment and chief marketing officer of Livestrong; David Caudill, former attorney for Tony Dorsett and professor at the Villanova School of Law; Brian Jones, former NFL player and CBS Sports analyst; Michael Cramer, former president of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars and director of the Texas Program in Sports and Media; Maureen Weston, professor at the Pepperdine School of Law; and Erin Aldrich, a former multi-sport Olympian who is planning to open an athlete management firm.
