The 142nd University-Wide Commencement Ceremony — the largest in the Unviersity’s history — drew thousands to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, May 10, to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Class of 2025. Earlier in the week, individual ceremonies celebrated graduates from each of the University’s 17 degree-granting colleges and schools.
In total, more than 11,000 graduates were honored at the event, including some 7,968 undergraduate students, 2,472 graduate students, 350 doctoral students, 319 law students and 45 new doctors from Dell Medical School.

Interim President Jim Davis addressed the graduates with words of reflection and encouragement, honoring their resilience, curiosity and commitment to changing the world.
“Graduates, you arrived here as students and you leave as alumni, but your journey with our University is far from over,” Davis said.

The keynote address was delivered by Taylor Sheridan, Academy Award-nominated screenwriter, Emmy-nominated producer and the creator, director, writer and executive producer of several record-breaking television series, including “Yellowstone,” “Mayor of Kingstown,” “Tulsa King,” “1883,” “Lioness” and “Landman.”
“You have already proven your determination, your self-discipline, your integrity and your grit, and those four things — more than any degree — will be the foundation of your success regardless of what path you choose for yourself,” Sheridan said.
As fireworks lit up the night sky while the UT Tower glowed burnt orange, the Class of 2025 officially cemented their Longhorn legacy.
“You are Longhorns. You were yesterday, you are today and you always will be,” said Davis.
