Austin Technology Incubator loses promising director

Dr. Johan Gervais, newly appointed director of Austin Technology Incubator (ATI), died suddenly in his home in San Marcos on Sunday (Aug. 16). The cause was a heart attack. He was 42 years old.

Dr. R. Adron Harris, one of the world's foremost experts in the genetics of alcoholism, is joining The University of Texas at Austin College of Natural Sciences. Harris has been awarded the M. June and J. Virgil Waggoner Chair in Molecular Biology and will head the Center for the Study of Alcohol and Drug Dependence, beginning Sept. 1.

Schatz named chairman of UT Austin radio-television-film department

Thomas Schatz, Ph.D., has been appointed chairman of the radio-television-film department at The University of Texas at Austin. Schatz, on faculty at the department since 1976, has written numerous books and articles on the history and theory of American film.
