Trial Advocacy Center at UT Austinreceives gifts in honor of Hill

The law firm of Liddell, Sapp, Zivley, Hill & LaBoon, and the Kayser Foundation, both of Houston, have made gifts totaling $175,000 to The University of Texas at Law School Foundation toward the Trial Advocacy Center in the John B. Connally Center for the Administration of Justice. The trial center will be named in honor of John L. Hill Jr., chief justice of the Supreme Court of Texas from 1984-1987.

Endowment established at UT Austin to assist Aransas County ISD high school students

Mr. and Mrs. Hays R. Warden of Houston have established a permanent endowment at The University of Texas at Austin to assist students from high schools within the Aransas County Independent School District. The Opal A.Warden and Beatrice Shipman Memorial Endowed Scholarship honors the mothers of Hays R. Warden, a 1972 UT graduate, and his wife Sandra L. Warden.

Bureau of Economic Geology's natural gas studiescited as a success story in report to President Clinton

Geologic studies of natural gas reservoirs in Texas conducted by The University of Texas at Austin's Bureau of Economic Geology between 1988 to 1995 have been singled out as an example of a "government-industry success story" by the White House. The designation was included in the final report submitted to President Clinton by the President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).
