UT Austin is the first tier-one university in decades to establish a new medical school. The Dell Medical School is the culmination of efforts by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, the UT System Board of Regents, the Seton Healthcare Family, Central Health, state Sen. Kirk Watson, UT Austin, donors and Travis County voters.

Speakers at the event will include Bill Powers; Kirk Watson; Clay Johnston, dean of the Dell Medical School; Brenda Coleman-Beattie, chair of Central Health; and Jesús Garza, president and CEO of the Seton Healthcare Family.

Community and university leaders will be available for interviews after the ceremony. The program will feature a digital mosaic rendering of the new facility and community activities. Media are welcome to photograph and broadcast the event.
