When: Tuesday, Oct. 20, 4-4:30 p.m. public showing, winner announced at 4:30 p.m.

Where: The University of Texas at Austin campus, Goldsmith Hall, room 2.110. Campus maps are online.

Background: Direct Events, owners of The Backyard concert venue in Bee Caves, sponsored a competition for students in the School of Architecture at The University of Texas at Austin to design a sustainable concert venue. Entries were submitted prior to Sept. 30 and the final six designs will be showcased tomorrow. The winning team will be announced at 4:30 p.m.

Sixth River Architects, architects for the project and designers of Austin Music Hall and the Bass Concert Hall renovation, are assisting in the competition. The jury is composed of Jeff Peterson, producer, Austin City Limits; John Grabel, John Grable Architects, Inc.; Jennifer Orr, Jennifer Orr Landscape Design; Juan Miro, Miro Rivera Architects; and Wilfried Wang, Holden Wang Partners, Berlin.

The winning team will receive $5,000.
