AUSTIN, Texas—The Texas Memorial Museum will celebrate Earth Day on Saturday April 22 with a new exhibit and a day of family fun.
The exhibit is the Endangered Species Media Project’s traveling exhibition, “The Vanishing Wildlife of Texas.” Fifty paintings of endangered or threatened animals and plants were commissioned by ESMP for this striking exhibit, all by noted artist Gamini Ratnavira. Together, these paintings make a strong statement for supporting the survival of our Texas wildlife neighbors. The exhibit now is on display on TMM’s first floor and will remain on view through June 2000.
Also on April 22, TMM’s Earth-friendly celebrations continue with a day of family fun. Drawing inspiration from the exhibit “The Vanishing Wildlife of Texas,” children will have the opportunity to create their own wildlife art and explore TMM’s long-term wildlife exhibits.
The Texas Memorial Museum is located at 2400 Trinity St., just north of the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Admission is free and Saturday hours are 10-5. For more information about programs, tours, hours on other days, or other exhibits, please call 471-1604 or visit TMM online: http://www.utexas.edu/depts/tmm
