AUSTIN, Texas —President Larry R. Faulkner and other representatives from The University of Texas at Austin participated in “Send-Off 2000” celebrations in El Paso and Dallas recently to personally extend a welcome to students in those cities who will be entering freshmen at UT Austin this fall semester.
Traveling with Faulkner were representatives of the offices of admissions, student financial aid, housing and food, alumni affairs, public affairs and community relations. UT Austin Student Body President Daron Roberts also was on the UT Austin team in both cities to talk with students about campus life at the University.
About 180 recent high school graduates from the El Paso area and about 1,000 from the Dallas area are expected to arrive as incoming freshmen on the UT Austin campus this fall. Classes will begin on Aug. 30.
