AUSTIN, Texas—The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has given a prestigious 2001 Circle of Excellence in Educational Fund-Raising Award to The University of Texas at Austin.
The award is presented annually to colleges and universities for superior performance in fund-raising and is based on an analysis of three consecutive years of giving. Only a small number of institutions with CASE membership are recipients of this award.
UT Austin is now three-and-a-half years into a seven-year, $1 billion capital campaign. More than $850 million has been raised since the drive began in 1997.
"We are very pleased with this award," said Johnnie D. Ray, UT vice president for resource development. "The success of our fund-raising campaign is the result of many elements coming together at UT: stellar faculty, strong presidential leadership, exceptional students, engaged alumni and supporters, and a highly professional development staff. We are very grateful to everyone who has chosen to invest in The University of Texas. We are privileged to have their confidence and support."
Ray and other top development officials will receive the award at the CASE Philanthropy Commission luncheon July 2 in San Francisco.
Earlier this year, the Office of the Vice President for Resource Development received awards for a number of fund-raising publications in the CASE District IV regional contest and recognition for its ACES Building brochure in the national publications contest.
