C-Span to feature UT Austin professor on live broadcast about Mark Twain

Dr. Shelley Fisher Fishkin, professor of American Studies and English at The University of Texas at Austin, will be featured on C-Span’s live broadcast Monday (June 25) morning from Hannibal, Mo.

WHAT: Dr. Shelley Fisher Fishkin, professor of American Studies and English at The University of Texas at Austin, will be featured on C-Span’s live broadcast Monday (June 25) morning from Hannibal, Mo. The program, part of the American Writers series, will be on Mark Twain and the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Fishkin, a Twain expert, will be joined by writer Roy Blount Jr. The host of the program is C-span’s Connie Brode. These shows take calls from people around the country.

WHEN: 8-10:30 a.m. (CST). Repeated at 7 p.m. (CST) on Friday evenings.

BACKGROUND: Fishkin is the author of Lighting Out for the Territory: Reflections on Mark Twain and American Culture and is the editor of the 29-volume Oxford Mark Twain. She also is the author of the award-winning books, Was Huck Black? Mark Twain and African-American Voices and From Fact to Fiction: Journalism and Imaginative Writing in America. Fishkin has lectured on Twain throughout the world and is the past president of the Mark Twain Circle of America.
