AUSTIN, Texas—The first Public Sector Job Fair in Austin, featuring job recruiters from city, county, state and federal agencies, as well as from The University of Texas at Austin, will be held on Jan. 25 at the Frank C. Erwin Jr. Special Events Center.

The event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is open to the public and is in partnership with the Greater Austin @ Work. Free parking is available on university parking Lot 108, just south of the center.

The job fair offers diverse opportunities for full-time and part-time employment. The university has about 150 job openings and the partnering governmental agencies each have from five to 25 openings.

Applicants are encouraged to arrive early with several copies of their resumes, if they have one, along with copies of any licenses or certificates for specialty areas, such as medical, trade and technical fields, said Richard Burns, assistant director for the university’s Human Resource Services.

The job fair features openings with the university and various governmental agencies in areas such as clerical, skilled/crafts, service/maintenance, executive/managerial, professional non-faculty and technical/paraprofessional. Recruiters from other agencies include the City of Austin, Travis County, Austin Community College, Texas Department of Health and Human Resources, Southwest Texas State University and Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission. For more listings visit the Web site and view applicant information in the "Spotlight" list.

Job fairs sponsored by the university in recent years have provided productive, cost-effective opportunities for the recruitment of open positions. More than 2,000 applicants participated in the UT-Wide Summer Job Fair last July.

Greater Austin @ Work is a partnership of WorkSource—Greater Austin Area Workforce Board, Rural Capital Area Workforce Development Board, City of Austin, Travis County and the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.
