AUSTIN, Texas—The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin ranked seventh in this year’s Wall Street Journal list of the nation’s top 50 business schools published on Monday, Sept. 9.
The McCombs School ranked 10th last year, the first year of the survey.
“Recruiters call the University of Texas’ McCombs School of Business, which jumped three places in the ranking this year, ‘the best business education for the dollar’ because of its relatively modest tuition,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
The school was second on the Journal’s list of top public business schools, behind the University of Michigan. It ranked first among business schools in the south and fifth among the top large business schools.
The Wall Street Journal survey, conducted by the market research and consulting firm Harris Interactive, ranks business schools solely on the opinions of corporate recruiters. About 2,200 recruiters participated in this year’s rankings.
In academic specialty rankings, the McCombs School was third in accounting, fourth in information technology, fifth in e-commerce, ninth in marketing and 10th in entrepreneurship. The school was second on the list of favorite schools of technology recruiters and sixth on the list of schools favored by management consulting recruiters.
Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business was rated the top business school for the second consecutive year.
