AUSTIN, Texas—The University of Texas at Austin will present eight of its best student films at the seventh annual UT Austin Student Film Showcase in Los Angeles. Also known as the 2003 Hollywood Showcase, the event will be Thursday, May 22, 2003, at the Directors Guild of America Theatre. Austinites can get a sneak preview of the showcase from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 at the Alamo Drafthouse downtown.

All eight of the films being screened are juried undergraduate and graduate works representing some of the best work by University of Texas at Austin film students, many of which have been screened at film festivals around the country and recognized with industry awards.

“Our film program is full of gifted filmmakers, many of whom will make their mark on the film industry,” said Paul Stekler, professor and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker. “The Hollywood Showcase gives up-and-coming talent the exposure and the contacts they need to get started in this business.”
