Foundation’s achievement awards presented to four faculty members from The University of Texas at Austin

Four faculty members from The University of Texas at Austin–Prof. Thomas Shively, Dr. Michael Engelhardt, Dr. Christopher Bell and Dr. Gustavo de Veciana–have been named recipients of the El Paso Corporate Foundation Faculty Achievement Award.

AUSTIN, Texas—Four faculty members from The University of Texas at Austin—Prof. Thomas Shively, Dr. Michael Engelhardt, Dr. Christopher Bell and Dr. Gustavo de Veciana—have been named recipients of the El Paso Corporate Foundation Faculty Achievement Award.

Dr. Sheldon Ekland-Olson, executive vice president and provost at the university, said the Board of the El Paso Corporate Foundation provides awards of $3,000 each to teaching faculty members who have demonstrated significant and meritorious achievement in teaching. The foundation recognizes dedicated educators with exceptional devotion to the quality of instruction, high academic standards and a remarkable dedication to students.

The recipients were recognized in specific areas of study including:

  • Shively, of the Department of Management Science and Information Systems—recognized in the area of accounting and statistics.
  • Engelhardt, Department of Civil Engineering—engineering.
  • Bell, Department of Geological Sciences—geological sciences.
  • De Veciana, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering—information technology.
