AUSTIN, Texas—The Office of Admissions at The University of Texas at Austin has become the responsibility of Executive Vice President and Provost Sheldon Ekland-Olson under a reorganization that became effective June 1.
Transferring responsibility for the Office of Admissions from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs to the Office of the Provost will allow a closer connection between academic program planning and enrollment management, Ekland-Olson said.
Dr. Bruce Walker, whose title has been associate vice president for student affairs and director of admissions, will become a vice provost and director of admissions under the reorganization.
“There has been a very close connection between admissions and the Provost’s Office,” said Ekland-Olson. “I look forward to an even more direct working relationship with Bruce.”
The Office of Admissions employs 119 full-time, 9 part-time and 44 student workers and is responsible for recruitment and admission of undergraduate students both domestic and foreign and for assisting graduate and professional schools with the processing of application materials.
“The challenges associated with aligning enrollments with academic capacity require close collaboration between the Provost’s Office and the Office of Admissions,” Walker said. “I look forward to working directly with the provost to accomplish the academic mission of the university.”
