AUSTIN, Texas—The Tower at The University of Texas at Austin will shine bright orange for about an hour on Saturday, Nov. 29 and throughout the night on Sunday, Nov. 30 for lighting tests and for filming of a scene for the feature movie “Cheer Up” that is being produced on the university’s South Mall area.

The Tower is one of several landmarks on the campus expected to be shown in the action comedy starring Tommy Lee Jones. The production also will involve filming scenes at Gearing Hall and Garrison Hall on Saturday, Nov. 29 from sunrise until the early evening.

The “Cheer Up” filming was scheduled for the holiday weekend because it is a period of minimal pedestrian and vehicle traffic on campus. The South Mall filming will involve restricted access to Inner Campus Drive from Friday afternoon, Nov. 28 through early Monday morning. Production trucks will be parked from Thursday evening through Sunday night on Lot F27 near the intersection of Whitis Street and Dean Keeton Avenue.

Beginning on Thursday, Nov. 28 and throughout the holiday weekend, film trucks will be on 24th Street between Whitis Street and University Drive and on 24th Street between Whitis and Guadalupe Street. Vehicles also will be parked on Lot 15 on University Drive and on Whitis Street between 24th Street and Inner Campus Drive, as well as on Inner Campus Drive.
