AUSTIN, Texas—The Tower of The University of Texas at Austin will be darkened from sunset on Friday, Sept. 10 until sunrise on Saturday, Sept. 11 as part of a city-wide remembrance of the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001.

The special lighting configuration will be a darkened Tower with white cap and observation deck. All other levels of the Tower will be dark, including windows.

The top two floors of several other major downtown Austin office and state government buildings also will be illuminated Friday evening in observance of the lives lost when jetliners hijacked by terrorists slammed into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon, and another hijacked airplane crashed near Pittsburgh when the hijackers’ mission was thwarted by passengers.
