AUSTIN, Texas—The Donald D. Harrington Fellows Program, one of the most well-endowed visiting scholar and graduate fellow programs in the nation, begins its fourth year at The University of Texas at Austin with a new group of 10 outstanding scholars.
Four faculty members join the Faculty Fellows Program. The Graduate Fellows Program welcomes one master’s fellow and three doctoral fellows from other universities, and two dissertation fellows from The University of Texas at Austin.
The visiting faculty fellows are Dr. Jorge Canizares-Esguerra in the Department of History, from the State University of New York, Buffalo; Dr. Ami Pedahzur in the Department of Government, from the University of Haifa, Israel; and Dr. John Witt in the School of Law, from Columbia University Law School. Dr. James Westphal, a faculty fellow in the Department of Management, is from The University of Texas at Austin.
The six new graduate fellows are:
Master’s Fellow:
- Amelia Brunskill in the School of Information, from the University of Washington.
Doctoral Fellows:
- Jinlong Gong in the Department of Chemical Engineering, from Tianjin University.
- Scott Gregoire in the Department of Economics, from Tulane University.
- Kimberly Spears Hopkins in the Department of Mathematics, from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Dissertation Fellows:
- Sunghwan Jung in the Department of Physics, from The University of Texas at Austin.
- Anna Taylor in the Department of History, from The University of Texas at Austin.
The Donald D. Harrington Fellows Program was created in 1987 by Sybil B. Harrington in memory of her husband, Donald D. Harrington. A $30 million endowment was funded by the Sybil B. Harrington Trust and The Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation to support the program. The award provides salary and research funding to the recipients.
