AUSTIN, Texas—Richard B. Eason, senior consultant, managing director and corporate secretary at Marts and Lundy, Inc., has been appointed vice president for resource development at The University of Texas at Austin.

Eason joined Marts and Lundy, a national fund-raising consulting firm, in 2000 after 15 years as vice president for development at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. During his tenure at Southwestern the university raised more than $100 million and its endowment grew from $30 million to more than $300 million.

Eason succeeds Johnnie D. Ray, now senior vice president for institutional advancement at Emory University in Atlanta.

“Rick has a wonderfully rich experience and a record of great success in the world of development,” said Larry R. Faulkner, president of The University of Texas at Austin. “He commands the highest respect among fund-raising professionals nationwide, and he knows Texas. He is a very good match for our needs and will be able to provide strong leadership to our program from the very start.”

Eason began his development career in 1980 as director of development at Southwestern. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the university in 1973.

He was named a Distinguished Alumnus at Southwestern in 2000 and was inducted into the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District IV Hall of Fame in 2001.

Eason and his wife, Patty, live in Georgetown.
