AUSTIN, Texas—Five faculty members at The University of Texas at Austin have been selected as recipients of the President’s Associates Teaching Excellence Awards for the 2004-05 academic year.
Dr. Sheldon Ekland-Olson, provost at the university, said the faculty members have consistently demonstrated commitment and outstanding performance in teaching.
The recipients, Dr. Theresa J. O’Halloran, Dr. David A. Wevill, Dr. Martin W. Kevorkian, Dr. Steven D. Hoelscher and Dr. Rebecca Bigler, will each receive a $5,000 honorarium during the fall 2005 semester. The awards will be presented during the university’s 122nd anniversary celebration and State of the University Address on Sept. 14.
The awards recognize the consistent level of excellence the faculty members achieved in teaching undergraduates in various departments, including: O’Halloran, the Section of Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology; Wevill and Kevorkian, Department of English; Hoelscher, Department of American Studies; and Bigler, Department of Psychology.
