AUSTIN, Texas—Vincent Shelby Stanfield, director of student information systems at The University of Texas at Austin since 2000, has been appointed the university’s registrar, Dr. Juan González, vice president for student affairs, said today (June 6).

Gonzalez said the appointment of Stanfield, who will assume the post on June 19, concludes a nationwide search to fill a vacancy created by the retirement of long-time registrar Ted Pfeifer last January.

In addition to management of the Registrar’s Office and support of academic efforts, Stanfield will be involved in collaborative efforts with Student Information Systems and Information Technology Services. These efforts will be focused in producing broad-based integrated services for the Registrar’s Office, the Division of Student Affairs and the university.

“I’m enthusiastic and confident in this selection,” said González. “Shelby Stanfield brings a wonderful array of skills, expertise and passion to the Registrar’s Office. He will provide a strong sense of creative leadership for future endeavors.”

Stanfield has served in other capacities on campus since 1988. He received his bachelor of science degree with a major in radio-television-film from The University of Texas at Austin in 1988.
