AUSTIN, Texas—Three University of Texas at Austin students were awarded Apple iPod nanos for their participation in a University of Texas Libraries user satisfaction survey.
Ann Cheng, who recently completed her graduate studies in the Department of Advertising, Mayank Bomb, a graduate student in the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Steven Boyer, a Radio-Television-Film senior, received the digital music players for completing a LibQUAL+™ survey, which identifies trends in service quality and helps the Libraries to focus its resources.
The LibQUAL+™ survey is a Web-based tool that measures three aspects of library service: service attitudes and abilities of employees; library environment and facilities; and diversity of resources and ease of use.
The University of Texas Libraries has used the LibQUAL+™ survey since 2001 to improve services. Notable examples of improvements resulting from the survey include the construction of Prufrock’s Java City, the installation of additional copy card vending machines, the implementation and extension of online chat reference and the placement of signage for quiet and collaborative study spaces.
