AUSTIN, Texas—The 80th Texas Legislature celebrated the achievements of The University of Texas Performing Arts Center (PAC) Director Pebbles Wadsworth Thursday, May 24 with an official reception at the Texas State Capitol and proclamation from State Representative Edmund Kuempel.
Wadsworth was recognized as an Honorary Texan in acknowledgment of her many contributions to the cultural vitality of the state. Wadsworth has been the director of the PAC for the past 15 years, and will leave her position next January
Wadsworth came to Austin from the UCLA Performing Arts Center in 1992. During her tenure at The University of Texas at Austin’s Performing Arts Center, Wadsworth helped transform the Center into one of the preeminent performing arts venues in the country. In addition to bringing world-class artists and programs to the university, she also established an endowment fund, promoted the institution as a rehearsal and development facility for musical productions, laid the groundwork for a $14.7 million restoration of Bass Concert Hall and founded ArtesAméricas, a program encouraging Latin American artists to work with the university as a point of entry to perform in North America.
