AUSTIN, Texas—Warm welcomes from volunteers offering assistance will greet new and returning students and their parents moving in to residence halls at The University of Texas at Austin Aug. 24-26 for the fall semester.
William Powers Jr., president of the university, will be among the volunteers who will work in shifts helping the new arrivals carry suitcases, boxes and other belongings from vehicles and move them into residence halls during MooovIn 2007. He is scheduled to work at Kinsolving Hall, corner of Dean Keeton and Whitis streets, beginning at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 24.
MooovIn is a tradition that helps incoming students meet members of the university community before the start of classes on Aug. 29, said Tammy Hong, president of the University Residence Hall Association, which sponsors the annual program.
The residence halls participating in Mooov-In this year include Jester Center, Kinsolving/Whitis Court halls, Simkins Hall, San Jacinto Hall, Brackenridge/Roberts/Prather/Moore-Hill halls, Almetris Duren Hall and the Andrews/Blanton/Carothers/Littlefield halls.
