The University of Texas at Austin’s Senate of College Councils has honored Patrick Davis, associate dean for academic affairs at the College of Pharmacy, by naming him professor of the month for October. The Eckerd Centennial Professor, Davis becomes the inaugural recipient of the award established by the university-wide student governing body to honor outstanding faculty from across the campus. Pharmacy Council, the student governing body of the College of Pharmacy, nominated Davis for the recognition Among the comments included in the nomination letter was: “His passion for pharmacy is filled with optimism and enthusiasm. He keeps the students wanting more.” At the College of Pharmacy, Davis’ major teaching responsibilities in the professional program focus on basic principles in drug metabolism, the medicinal chemistry and pharmacology of antimicrobial agents, vaccines and immunizing biologicals, elective coursework in advanced antimicrobials and emerging infections.
