The Donald D. Harrington Fellows Program, one of the most well-endowed visiting scholar and graduate fellow programs in the nation, and the most prestigious fellowship program at The University of Texas at Austin, begins its seventh year with a new group of 12 scholars.
Four faculty members join the Faculty Fellows Program. The Graduate Fellows Program includes three doctoral fellows and three master’s fellows from other universities and two dissertation fellows from The University of Texas at Austin.
The visiting Faculty Fellows are Dr. Elizabeth J. Catlos, Department of Geology, Oklahoma State University; Dr. Niko Matouschek, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University; Dr. Fumitoshi Shibahara, Department of Chemistry and Faculty of Engineering, Gifu University, Japan; and Dr. Rebecca M. Torres, Department of Geography, East Carolina University.

- Jonathan G. Cox, Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior, Indiana State University.
- Nicholas G. Crain, Department of Finance, Carnegie Mellon University and Washington State University.
- James W. Smith, Department of Accounting, University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
Dissertation Fellows:
- Kimberly Bender, School of Social Work, The University of Texas at Austin.
- John A. Gronbeck-Tedesco, Department of American Studies, The University of Texas at Austin.
Master’s Fellows:
- Ingrid Haeckel, Department of Geography, Columbia University.
- Shelley E. Rowland, Department of Information Studies, University of California – Santa Barbara.
- Icy R. Simpson, Department of Music Performance, Nebraska Wesleyan University.
The Harrington Fellows Program was created by Sybil B. Harrington as a tribute to her late husband, Donald D. Harrington. She envisioned a program that would support gifted and ambitious scholars, who would, in turn, share their knowledge and success with future generations. A $30 million endowment was funded by the Sybil B. Harrington Trust and The Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation to support the program.
