Democratic Primary Debate to Take Place on The University of Texas at Austin Campus

EVENT: Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama will participate in a Democratic presidential primary debate at The University of Texas at Austin.

EVENT: Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama will participate in a Democratic presidential primary debate at The University of Texas at Austin.

WHEN: Thursday, Feb. 21, from 7-8:30 p.m. CST.

WHERE: Recreational Sports Center (between the School of Social Work and the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletics Center). A map of campus is online.

To accommodate the National Democratic Primary Debate, the RSC will close at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, and re-open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.

SEATING INFORMATION: Student access to the debate is being coordinated by the Office of the Dean of Students. The random drawing for student seating at the debate closed at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Prior to the debate, students selected through the random drawing will receive notification by e-mail from the Office of the Dean of Students. Questions: 512-471-5017.

BACKGROUND: The debate is hosted by the University Democrats, a registered student organization, and is presented by the Lyndon B. Johnson Foundation on behalf of the LBJ School of Public Affairs and the LBJ Library, CNN and Univision Communications, Inc.

RELATED EVENTS: The University of Texas at Austin Senate of College Councils will host a debate watching event Thursday, Feb. 21 in the Texas Union Ballroom. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Food and drink will be provided, but you must be a student, faculty or staff member with university identification to attend. The debate will be televised Thursday, Feb. 21 on CNN at 7 p.m. CST. Admission for students, members of the university community and the public is by invitation only due to security restrictions.
