Event: The ninth International Symposium on Online Journalism produced by the Knight Chair in Journalism and the UNESCO Chair in Communication at The University of Texas at Austin.
When: April 4-5.
Where: Avaya Auditorium, Applied Computational Engineering and Sciences Building (ACES 2.302) on The University of Texas at Austin campus. A map of campus can be found online.
Background: Since 1999, editors, producers, executives and academics from around the country (and lately from around the world) annually have gathered in Austin to discuss the evolution of this new genre of journalism. The symposium has been a small, but very intense conference that serves as a barometer for the state of online journalism.
For the fourth year, the International Symposium on Online Journalism will include presentations of original research into online journalism. All presentations will take place on the second day of the conference. The first day is devoted to presentations and panels of online journalism professionals.
Prior symposia have included professionals from around the world from news organizations such as the NYTimes.com, OhMyNews, ep3.es (El Pais’ multimedia magazine in Spain), MSNBC.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, WashingtonPost.com, ElTiempo.com (Colombia), ElComercio.com.pe (Peru) and many others.
Registration for the symposium is now closed. Visit the International Symposium on Online Journalism Web site the day of the event to see the live webcast.
