Thomas Kennedy, emeritus professor of civil engineering, has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Modified Asphalt Producers for his research that focused on the development of new materials and technical procedures. Kennedy managed several large governmental research programs in the 1990s that developed longer-lasting and safer asphalt paving methods now being implemented internationally. Kennedy is the first person to receive this award.
