Event: Texas State Sen. Carlos Uresti and Blue Ribbon Task Force, a coalition of community members formed prevent child abuse and neglect, will unveil the second stage of a billboard campaign to bring attention to neglected and abused children during National Child Abuse Awareness Month.

The billboard campaign was created by University of Texas at Austin advertising students in the Texas Creative program.

When: 2 p.m., April 17

Where: United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, 700 S. Alamo, San Antonio

Background: Four University of Texas at Austin advertising students — Leanne Amann, Bella Castano, Ani Munoz and Lauren Zaffaroni — created the billboards pro bono, outside of class after the senator’s office approached Isabella Cunningham, chairwoman of the Department of Advertising, about leveraging talent from the Texas Creative program. The students presented a range of initial concepts and the final design was chosen and prepared for installation.
