Event: The Harry Ransom Center hosts the “Rebel Classics Film Series.”
When: 7 p.m. on June 5, June 26 and July 24.
Where: Harry Ransom Center, 21st and Guadalupe streets.
Background: The Harry Ransom Center presents the “Rebel Classics Film Series” throughout the summer.
The following films will be screened in the series:
- June 5: László Benedek’s “The Wild One” (1953), starring Marlon Brando.
- June 26: Nicolas Ray’s “Rebel Without a Cause” (1955), starring James Dean.
- July 24: Tony Richardson’s “Look Back in Anger” (1958), starring Richard Burton. The film is based on John Osborne’s renowned play. Osborne’s archive is housed at the Ransom Center.
Seating is free, but limited. All screenings are in DVD-format.
This series is held in conjunction with the Ransom Center’s exhibition “On the Road with the Beats,” which traces the travels of Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs and their friends across America and the globe. The exhibition runs through Aug. 3.
