The Texas Digital Library has received the 2008 Higher Education Excellence Award from the Texas Association of State Systems for Computing and Communication (TASSCC).
The award will be presented during the TASSCC’s annual conference in Galveston on Aug. 12.
The TASSCC is an organization of Texas public sector information technology professionals and associate members from private sector technologies companies. The TASSCC grants two excellence awards per year–one to an institution of higher education and one to a state agency.
“The TASSCC Excellence Award recognizes those who have implemented a technical application that significantly improved internal operations, customer services, or communications,” TASSCC says on its Web site. “Special consideration is given to projects that use leading edge technology or that use existing technology in an innovative manner. Nominated projects must be implemented and delivering services described.”
The Texas Digital Library is a multi-university consortium providing the digital infrastructure to support a fully online scholarly community for institutions of higher education in Texas and the widespread availability of their enormous intellectual capital.
