Event: Actors From The London Stage (AFTLS), a troupe of five of England’s most talented actors, will perform William Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale,” Oct. 1-4 in Austin and Round Top, Texas.

When/Where: The troupe will perform “The Winter’s Tale” at 8 p.m. Oct. 1-3 at the B. Iden Payne Theater at the university, and at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Winedale Historical Center in Round Top. The Oct. 1 performance will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the actors.

Background: Presented by the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin and the University of Notre Dame since 1999, AFTLS will spend a week on campus conducting classes and workshops, in addition to the public performances.

The five actors, veterans of the classical theater with experience in such leading companies as the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre, will play the roles in “The Winter’s Tale” using subtle gestures, body movements and voice modulation, rather than elaborate costumes or sets.

Tickets for the Austin performances of “The Winter’s Tale” may be purchased through the Texas Box Office. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for students with university IDs and senior citizens, and may be purchased at the Texas Box Office. For the Winedale performance, general admission is $20 and tickets may be purchased online.

A schedule of AFTLS residency activities is available online.
