Hook the Vote Rally Aims to Register Voters on Campus

Event: Hook the Vote, a coalition of University of Texas at Austin student organizations, will host a Registration Roundup where 30 student organizations will compete to register voters.

Event: Hook the Vote, a coalition of University of Texas at Austin student organizations, will host a Registration Roundup where 30 student organizations will compete to register voters. There will be a rally featuring live music, food, speakers and prizes for the student organization that registers the most voters.

When: Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., campus-wide voter registration drive; 7 p.m. to midnight, rally at Gregory Plaza,

Where: Voter registration tables will be located across the university’s campus. The rally will take place at Gregory Plaza. Maps of the university are available online.

Background: Hook the Vote is a non-partisan coalition of University of Texas at Austin organizations that includes College Republicans, the Daily Texan, the Student Event Center, Student Government, University Democrats and UT Votes.

UT Votes is an initiative of the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Participation, a research unit of the College of Communication and the university, with a mission to create more voters and better citizens. In addition to the rally, UT Votes will host a debate watching party, an early voting rally and an election returns watching party.
