Event: Nationally recognized political scientists Daron Shaw and Sean Theriault will host the “2008 Post-Election Panel” to analyze the results of last week’s historic elections. In addition to reviewing what happened, they will discuss what the results mean for the future of American politics.

Background: Shaw, associate professor of government, serves on the advisory board of the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Participation and on the national decision team for Fox News. He was a strategist during the 2000 and 2004 presidential election campaigns. Shaw is the co-author of “Unconventional Wisdom: Facts and Myths About American Voters.”
Theriault, associate professor of government, researches party polarization, the U.S. Congress and the relationship between elected officials and their constituents. He is the author of “Party Polarization in Congress” and “The Power of the People: Congressional Competition, Public Attention, and Voter Retribution.”
The Department of Government and Pi Sigma Alpha, political science honor society, are sponsoring the event, which is free and open to the university community.
