Conference Features University Inventors, Technology Experts and Investors

Event: At the Ready to Commercialize 2008 conference, faculty from The University of Texas at Austin present inventions available for licensing and panels of national and international experts talk about technology transfer and start-up investing.

Event: At the Ready to Commercialize 2008 conference, faculty from The University of Texas at Austin present inventions available for licensing and panels of national and international experts talk about technology transfer and start-up investing.

When: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Nov. 18.

Where: Four Seasons Hotel, 98 San Jacinto Blvd., Austin, Texas.

Background: The conference brings together venture capitalists, industry executives, entrepreneurs and others active in early-stage technology. The fast-paced day includes panels, speakers and inventions that are ready to commercialize.

The agenda includes:

  • Steve Baker, senior technology writer, BusinessWeek, and author of “The Numerati” leads a panel discussing trends in social networking.
  • Venture capitalists Jimmy Treybig of New Enterprise Associates and Ray Rothrock of Venrock Capital lead a panel discussing fundamental changes in venture capital.
  • Patrick Ennis, Intellectual Ventures, will present game-changing approaches to commercializing inventions, while Danny Hillis, Applied Minds, will lend perspective to the current invention climate.
