Event: The School of Architecture at The University of Texas at Austin will unveil designs for core acreage of the Texas Clean Energy Park, slated to be the most technologically advanced clean energy campus in the country.

Background: The Texas Workforce Commission awarded $600,000 in January 2008 to the Texas Foundation for Innovative Communities to develop a 220-acre clean energy campus in Austin dedicated to innovative research, development, commercialization, education and training for the clean energy industry.
The Governor’s Office, the Greater Chamber of Commerce, the City of Austin, the General Land Office, Trammel Crow Company and the School of Architecture at The University of Texas at Austin are collaborating to make the campus a national center of excellence for clean energy.
With no comparable precedent in the country, the campus unites an industrial component composed of startup clean energy and renewal technology manufacturers and an innovative component to include clean energy research, use and education.
School of Architecture graduate students, along with faculty advisers, are presenting designs of the entire campus, along with designs of a core site to be used for offices, exhibition space, a library, a cafeteria and an innovation center.
Eight designs will be presented during the morning session and eight will be presented during the afternoon session. Each student will give a 30-minute presentation on his or her project.
The site is southeast of Lake Austin, about three miles from the Austin Bergstrom International Airport.
