Sawyer Exhibition “Synchronicity of Color” Opens at Courtyard Gallery on Jan. 24

Event: Margo Sawyer’s “Synchronicity of Color,” a sculptural, site-specific work, will be on exhibition from Jan. 24-May 9 in the Courtyard Gallery of the ATandT Executive Education and Conference Center. There will be a reception for the exhibition Feb. 5.

Event: Margo Sawyer’s “Synchronicity of Color,” a sculptural, site-specific work, will be on exhibition from Jan. 24-May 9 in the Courtyard Gallery of the ATandT Executive Education and Conference Center. There will be a reception for the exhibition Feb. 5. Gallery admission is free and open to the public. The Courtyard Gallery features the work of faculty and alumni from the Department of Art and Art History in the College of Fine Arts.

When: Exhibition: Saturday, Jan. 24-Saturday, May 9

Reception: Thursday, Feb. 5, 4-6 p.m.

Where: The Courtyard Gallery is on the 2nd level of the ATandT Executive Education Conference Center, 1900 University Ave. A map of campus is available online.

The exhibition space is adjacent to the courtyard.

Background: Sawyer is a professor of sculpture and studio art in the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas at Austin. Sawyer was part of the collaborative team, headed by San Francisco landscape design firm Hargreaves Associates, to design a new part in downtown Houston called Discovery Green. Sawyer created four site-specific works for the park that integrate art and architecture.

All of the works in the Courtyard Gallery exhibitions are for sale through the gift shop. The Courtyard Gallery is the result of a collaborative effort between the Office of the Vice President for Employee and Campus Services and the College of Fine Arts. There will be three faculty and alumni exhibitions a year in this space curated by Creative Research Lab Gallery Director Jade Walker.
