A University of Texas at Austin student team has won the MSTC/CIMAV New Venture Championship and will represent Mexico in the Global Moot Corp® Competition this May.
DCI Technologies won the qualifying competition and will represent Mexico in the Global Moot Corp® Competition where more than 40 teams from around the world will participate. Jorge Armendariz, Jorge Galvez Choy, Yanira Garcia, Alfredo Godinez, Luis Godinez and Esteban Torres are presenting OxsysPro, a photoelectrochemical oxidation water treatment system.
OxsysPro is a solution to treat and clean wastewater produced by oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. It is an innovative new technology that fulfills important environmental needs and offers benefits to potential industries that generate contaminated wastewater from their production or manufacturing processes.
The Center of Investigation for Advanced Materials (CIMAV) and the IC2 Institute introduced the first M.S. in Technology Commercialization class in Monterrey this past September. Forty of the 43 students in the Monterrey cohort came to Austin March 6-12. They visited the Austin Technology Incubator, met with TechBA leaders, spoke with the director of The University of Texas at Austin’s Office of Technology Commercialization, learned about funding new ventures and took a course from Professor Steven P. Nichols. In addition, eight teams from the cohort competed in a Moot Corp® qualifying competition, the MSTC/CIMAV New Venture Championship.

About the Master of Science in Technology Commercialization Program
The MSTC Program is an outgrowth of the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. It is an accelerated executive master’s degree program that was designed to teach students to identify and evaluate emerging technologies, identify customers and marketing strategies, develop broad, flexible business plans, build a high-functioning management team to drive the new venture, devise approaches for securing funding and manage and protect intellectual property.
