Update: The installation event with artist Shepard Fairey has been postponed.
Event: Shepard Fairey, the street artist best known for his iconic campaign poster of Barack Obama, will create an installation as part of the Landmarks public art program of the College of Fine Arts at The University of Texas at Austin. The mural will be on the exterior of the Art Building (ART) at the corner of 23rd Street and San Jacinto Boulevard. The artist’s team will install his original composition at this location, and the public and media are welcome to attend.

Background: Fairey was born in Charleston, S.C., in 1970 and lives and works in Los Angeles. He received his bachelor of arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1992 and he is the founder of the graphic design company Studio Number One in Los Angeles.
Fairey’s work is included in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. The artist’s first museum survey, “Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand,” is on view at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. To complement this exhibition, he installed an ephemeral mural for Tufts University Art Gallery in Boston.
