Information for the Barbara Jordan Unveiling Ceremony – Friday, April 24
Members of the news media may check in at the media table near the Geography Building (24th and Whitis streets) to obtain event credentials and background information.

Television “Live” Broadcast Vehicle Parking:

  • Six spaces for broadcast media satellite and ENG trucks will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis in the F-15 Lot between the Geography Building (GRG) and the Andrews Residence Hall (AND) on Whitis Street between 24th and 25th streets.
  • Access F15 Lot on Whitis Street from the north via Dean Keeton Street because 24th Street will be closed for the ceremony setup. Only broadcast media satellite and ENG trucks may enter the F-15 lot beginning at 7 a.m. and must be in place no later than 10:30 a.m. Broadcast media will have a raised platform from which to film near the Geography Building.

Parking for Print and Broadcast Reporters:

  • Twelve parking spaces will be reserved for print and other news media in campus lot F-27 at the northwest corner of Dean Keeton Street and Whitis Street. If the F-27 parking lot is full, paid parking is available in any of the campus parking garages. We recommend parking in the San Antonio (SAG), Speedway (SWG), or 27th Street (TSG) parking garages. Additional parking information can be found online.

Seating for Reporters and Print Photographers:

  • Reserved seats will be available for reporters and print photographers. There also will be a raised platform for use by photographers with telephoto lenses. Staff members at the media check-in table will direct reporters and photographers to the reserved seats and the print photographers’ platform.

All event participants, including reporters and photographers, are encouraged to remain seated throughout the ceremony.
