The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing has been invited by Home Box Office (HBO) to screen the first of four documentaries in its “The Alzheimer’s Project” series.
The screening, which is open to the public, will be held May 5 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the School of Nursing Room 1.116, 1700 Red River St.
“Caregivers,” the first in the HBO Alzheimer’s series, is a collection of five portraits, each of which highlights the sacrifices and successes of people experiencing their loved ones’ gradual descent into dementia. The series was done in collaboration with the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health.
The series will air nationally on HBO beginning May 10.
Created by the award-winning team behind HBO’s “Addiction” project, the series takes a close look at groundbreaking discoveries made by the country’s leading scientists in the area of Alzheimer’s research. It also examines the effects of the debilitating and fatal disease on those with Alzheimer’s and their families.
