Background: Symposium presenters include Dr. Rebecca Callahan, assistant professor, University of Georgia, Athens; Dr. Julian Vasquez Heilig, assistant professor, The University of Texas at Austin; and Dr. Alba Ortiz, professor, The University of Texas at Austin.

State Senator Leticia Van de Putte, District 26, will give the distinguished lecture. Following the lecture, a toast will be made to the Honorable William Wayne Justice for his 50-plus years of service. His landmark rulings in the field of education have addressed inequities and discrimination in schools, including inadequate education for immigrant and non-English speaking children.
