Each year in May, UT Remembers is observed. It is a day of ceremonies to honor those members of our community faculty, staff and students who have died in the previous year. In the morning, there is a flag-lowering ceremony on the Main Mall. In the afternoon, family and friends gather at the Tower Garden to reflect on lost loved ones and to hear the reading of their names as a single Tower bell tolls. In the evening, the Tower is darkened in their memory, and it remains so until dawn the next day.
“So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are now part of us, as we remember them.” The Hebrew Union Book of Prayer
